Map of the UK

Beer is a small coastal village and civil parish in East Devon, Devon, England, tucked into a sheltered bay on the Jurassic Coast. The village is framed by steep limestone cliffs, a shingle beach and a tiny harbour where traditional fishing cobles are still launched; the South West Coast Path passes through, making it popular with walkers, climbers and fossil hunters.

Beer Quarry Caves lie beneath the village and supplied the famous fine-grained “Beer stone” used since Roman and medieval times in buildings such as Exeter Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Today the local economy mixes tourism, small-scale fishing and crafts, and the community retains a strong village feel with pubs, events and a colourful smuggling and quarrying history that still shapes its identity.
