East Meon is a compact village at the head of the Meon Valley in Hampshire, sitting on the banks of the River Meon and fringed by the chalk downland of the South Downs National Park. Its setting of water meadows and rolling hills gives a very rural character despite being within easy reach of nearby towns.
The settlement has ancient roots and a strong sense of history, centred on a large Norman church and a cluster of listed houses and lanes that reflect a long medieval and agricultural past. Today it combines agriculture and small local businesses with an active village community - clubs, a village shop and pubs - while many residents commute to larger centres such as Petersfield or Winchester.
