North Curry is a compact village and civil parish in Somerset, about five miles east of Taunton, sitting on a slight ridge that looks out over the Somerset Levels. The heart of the village is a picture of honey‑coloured stone and thatched cottages clustered around a green and dominated by the impressive medieval church of St Peter and St Paul, its tower serving as a local landmark.
There are records back to Saxon times and the settlement later formed part of medieval monastic landholdings associated with Glastonbury Abbey. The surrounding lowlands are worked for dairy and market gardening on drained peat soils, while today many residents commute to Taunton; a lively community life with village hall events, an annual music festival and seasonal fairs, plus good walking and cycling on the Levels, gives the place a strong local character.
