Brownhills is a ward and town in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall in the West Midlands, historically part of Staffordshire. Once built around coal mining and the networked waterways of the Wyrley and Essington Canal, it still bears that industrial heritage in its street pattern and older buildings while functioning today largely as a residential and local‑service centre with many residents commuting to larger urban centres such as Birmingham.
The area is notable for its proximity to green, recreational assets: Chasewater Country Park and the adjacent heritage railway and reservoir offer walking, cycling and birdwatching, and the nearby woodlands of Cannock Chase are within easy reach. Locally there is a compact high street, community groups and small businesses driving modest regeneration, so the place combines a strong local identity with easy access to regional transport and leisure links.
