Rushall-Shelfield lies in the northern part of the Walsall borough in the West Midlands, covering the adjoining suburban communities of Rushall and Shelfield. The ward sits on the edge of Walsall’s urban area and combines Victorian and post‑war housing with pockets of green space and canal corridors, giving parts of it a semi‑rural feel while remaining within easy commuting distance of Birmingham and central Walsall.
Historically the area was shaped by coal mining and local industry, and traces of that industrial past remain visible in canals and repurposed sites. Today it is largely residential with local shops, small businesses and an active community life - including the non‑league club Rushall Olympic - and is valued for its accessible walks, wildlife and convenient transport links.
