Short Heath is a residential ward in the north of the borough of Walsall, within the West Midlands of England. Sitting on the edge of the Black Country, it has a suburban feel with a mix of council and privately owned housing, local shops and small commercial parades, and a handful of green spaces and playing fields that serve the neighbourhood.
Historically the area shares the industrial heritage common to the Black Country, while today it functions largely as a commuter area with regular bus links into Walsall town centre and onwards to larger centres such as Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Socially it is diverse and community-focused, with local schools, churches and voluntary groups playing a visible role amid ongoing efforts to tackle pockets of economic disadvantage and improve local services.
