Streetly is a suburban village in the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall, on the northern edge of the West Midlands conurbation and close to Sutton Coldfield and Aldridge. It sits near the extensive green space of Sutton Park and has the feel of a leafy commuter area, with good road and bus links into Birmingham and Walsall. The name is thought to reflect an early road or track through the area, and much of the housing dates from the interwar and post‑war suburban expansion.
Today Streetly is largely residential and family‑orientated, with a small local centre of shops, pubs, schools (including the well‑known local secondary school) and community clubs. Economically it leans towards retail and services for local needs, while many residents commute to nearby towns and cities; community life is steady rather than flashy, marked by local sports, schools and neighbourhood events.
