Clarkston in East Renfrewshire, Scotland is a leafy suburban town on the south side of Glasgow, part of the Greater Glasgow area. Sitting close to the M77 motorway with good rail and road links into the city, it combines Victorian and Edwardian villa streets with nearby green space such as Rouken Glen Park, which makes it popular with families and walkers.
Originally developed as a commuter suburb after the arrival of rail, Clarkston now has a compact town centre of independent shops, cafés and local services; many residents commute to Glasgow while enjoying strong local schools and active community and sports clubs. The town retains a generally affluent, family-oriented character and a sense of local identity within East Renfrewshire.
