Giffnock is a suburban town in East Renfrewshire, Scotland, sitting roughly five miles south of Glasgow. It has good transport links - a local railway station on the Glasgow–Neilston line and easy access to the M77 - and is bordered by the well‑loved green space of Rouken Glen Park, which is popular for walks, the boating pond and an outdoor café.
Originally a small 19th‑century weaving village, Giffnock grew into a leafy Victorian and Edwardian commuter suburb with sandstone villas, tree‑lined streets and a busy high street of independent shops and cafés along Fenwick Road. It’s regarded as relatively affluent, with well‑regarded local schools, an active community life and a notable Jewish community that contributes to the town’s cultural mix, while many residents commute into Glasgow for work.
