Clarkston, Netherlee and Williamwood form a cluster of leafy, largely residential suburbs in East Renfrewshire just south of Glasgow. The area is characterised by tree-lined streets, Victorian and Edwardian villas alongside later suburban housing, easy rail and road links into the city and nearby green spaces such as Rouken Glen Park, which are popular with families and dog-walkers.
Historically the neighbourhood grew with the arrival of railways and became part of Glasgow’s commuter belt; today it has a reputation for good schools, local shops, active community and sports clubs and a relatively affluent, settled population. Small business hubs and high street amenities sit alongside conservation areas and quieter residential pockets, giving a mix of local life and easy access to urban employment and culture.
