Rosewell is a former mining village in Midlothian, Scotland, situated a few miles south of Edinburgh on the fringe of the Pentland Hills and close to neighbouring settlements such as Bonnyrigg and Roslin.
Rosewell grew up in the 19th century around coal mining and still shows traces of that industrial past, but it is now largely residential with a strong local community, village amenities and easy commuting links into Edinburgh; the nearby hills and reservoirs give good opportunities for countryside walks and help retain a distinct local character.
