Caldercruix is a small village in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, set in the valley of the North Calder Water with the large Hillend Reservoir close by. It has a semi‑rural feel but good transport links, lying on the line between Airdrie and Bathgate and within easy commuting distance of Glasgow, with watersports, birdwatching and countryside walks on the village doorstep.
The settlement grew up in the 19th century around mills and river‑side industry and, after a period of decline, has seen modest regeneration; the reopening of Caldercruix railway station as part of the Airdrie–Bathgate rail link has boosted connections. Today it’s a close‑knit community with a mix of housing, small local businesses and outdoor recreation that reflects its industrial past and rural setting.
