Kinmel Bay is a coastal community in Conwy county borough on the north Wales coast, sitting beside the Irish Sea and immediately next to Towyn. It forms part of the ribbon of towns and beaches between Abergele and Rhyl, with wide sandy shores, dune systems and easy road access via the A55 corridor. The shoreline and dunes are a big draw for visitors in summer and for local wildlife year-round.
Locally the area is largely residential with a strong seasonal tourism economy around caravan parks and holiday accommodation, while many residents commute to nearby larger towns such as Colwyn Bay or Rhyl. Historic landmarks like Kinmel Hall sit a short distance inland, and the community has a history of resilience after notable coastal flooding events in the late 20th century, which shaped later flood defences and local planning. Socially it’s a mixed community of families, retirees and seasonal workers with a noticeable leisure-and-retail local economy.
