Minera is a semi-rural parish and village on the western edge of Wrexham County Borough in Wales, set against a backdrop of limestone crags, old quarries and the conspicuous spoil heaps left by 19th-century mining. The varied topography and remnants of industrial earthworks give the area a striking character and make it popular with walkers and naturalists exploring the local countryside.
Historically the community grew up around the Minera Lead Mines, which once made mining central to the local economy; the mine workings and associated buildings remain an important industrial-heritage feature. Today Minera functions largely as a rural and commuter village with small-scale farming and local enterprises, while its identity and recreational landscape are still shaped by that mining past.
