Welton is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, set in gently rolling agricultural countryside not far from the Humber Estuary. It has the feel of a traditional Yorkshire village, with a historic core of stone cottages and farmhouses and a parish church at its heart, and landscapes around it that are good for walking and birdwatching along the estuary margins.
Economically it remains rooted in farming, although its proximity to Hull and the commuter town of Brough means a number of residents travel out for work. Community life is typical of small rural parishes, centred on local gatherings, village facilities and seasonal events that reflect a long-standing local identity.
