Aller is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, set on the western edge of the Somerset Levels beside the River Parrett, a couple of miles south of Langport and close to Muchelney. The low-lying peat and clay landscape, with its rhynes and history of seasonal flooding, gives the area a distinctive wetland character and shapes local land use.
The local economy is largely agricultural, with arable fields and livestock grazing predominating, while the compact historic core - old farmhouses and a small medieval church - reflects a long rural past. Wildlife and birdwatching are notable attractions thanks to the Levels, and village life tends to revolve around farming, conservation efforts and links with nearby market towns for services and events.
