Ashcott is a small village and civil parish in Somerset, sitting on the low-lying Somerset Levels. The surrounding landscape is characteristically flat, criss-crossed by rhynes and drainage channels, with wetlands and nature reserves nearby; it lies within easy reach of market towns such as Bridgwater and the historic centre of Glastonbury.
Its history and economy have long been shaped by agriculture, peat cutting and water management, and today farming and horticulture remain important alongside a commuter population. The village keeps a close-knit social life around the church, village hall and local pub, and its built and cultural character reflects the practical, community-focused traditions of the Levels.
