Cockenzie is a compact coastal village in East Lothian, Scotland, sitting on the south shore of the Firth of Forth beside Port Seton. Traditionally a fishing and coal‑shipping community, its small harbour, sandy shore and seafront give it a distinctly maritime character; the long‑standing presence of the nearby coal‑fired power station once defined the skyline until its decommissioning and demolition, after which parts of the site and seafront have been subject to regeneration.

The village has a strong local identity with community events and waterside activities, and is popular with walkers and cyclists on the John Muir Way. In recent years the economy has shifted towards tourism and commuting, with easy access to Edinburgh via nearby Longniddry, while continuing to celebrate its fishing and industrial heritage.
