Lower Braes sits within the council area of Falkirk in Scotland, occupying the gentler, lower-lying slopes of the local Braes country. It has a semi-rural feel made up of small villages and hamlets, interspersed with farmland, roadside housing and pockets of woodland, and benefits from views across the local river valleys such as the River Avon.
Locally there’s a strong community atmosphere with village halls, clubs and volunteer groups, while economically the area combines agriculture, small businesses and a sizeable commuter population travelling to nearby towns. The Braes region also carries the wider Falkirk area’s industrial and transport legacy and sits close to traces of the Roman frontier and local canal corridors, which add historic and recreational interest.
