Penllergaer is a village and community on the north‑western fringe of Swansea in south‑west Wales, largely residential with a mix of Victorian and later housing and a small local centre. It sits within easy reach of the M4 and the city, making it popular with commuters, and has an active community life with sports clubs, a primary school and local groups.
Most notable is the nearby Penllergare estate and valley woods, a restored Victorian landscape created by the photographer and botanist John Dillwyn Llewelyn; the area offers ornamental lakes, waterfalls, walking trails and the evocative ruins and follies of the old house. The green space, together with easy access to the rolling hills of the Gower peninsula and Swansea’s amenities, gives the community a pleasant mix of rural character and suburban convenience.
