The village and civil parish of North Ferriby sits on the north bank of the Humber Estuary in the East Riding of Yorkshire, tucked beneath the chalk escarpment of the Yorkshire Wolds. Its riverside location and name recall an old ferry crossing to the south bank, and the foreshore is notable for the Bronze Age "Ferriby Boats" found there; the estuary also draws birdwatchers and walkers along the shoreline and Wolds paths.
Today North Ferriby retains a strong village atmosphere while serving as a commuter base with good rail and road links to Hull and neighbouring towns such as Brough and Hessle. Local life revolves around a medieval parish church, pubs, sports clubs and community events; the economy mixes agriculture and small businesses with many residents working in the nearby urban centres, and proximity to the Humber Bridge helps keep it well connected.
