Westonzoyland sits on the low-lying Somerset Levels, close to the River Parrett and a few miles west of Bridgwater. The landscape of rhynes, peat fields and reclaimed marshland defines the area, with a long history of drainage and flood management that still shapes everyday life and wildlife on the levels.
Despite its small size the village has notable heritage: it lies beside the site of the 1685 action at Sedgemoor, hosted an RAF base in the Second World War at RAF Weston Zoyland, and preserves pumping machinery and local history at the Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum. Today it remains a rural community centred on agriculture, with a historic parish church, local clubs and an interest in its military and industrial past.
