Whitecraig is a small village on the western edge of East Lothian, close to the Midlothian boundary and only a short drive from Edinburgh. It occupies a suburban-rural fringe, with easy road links to the A1 and nearby rail stations around Musselburgh, so it is popular with commuters into the city.
Originally a farming settlement, Whitecraig expanded through the 20th century and is now largely residential, with local shops, a primary school and active community groups. Residents benefit from swift access to the beaches and renowned golf courses of East Lothian and the amenities of nearby towns such as Musselburgh, combining a quiet village feel with the economic pull of the region.
