Buckhaven is a small coastal town on the east coast of Fife in Scotland, sitting on the shoreline of the Firth of Forth as part of the wider Levenmouth area. Its long, low sandy beaches and cliffs form part of the Fife Coastal Path and offer open views across the firth; the town is closely linked to neighbouring Methil and Leven by a ribbon of post‑industrial waterfront.
Historically Buckhaven grew as a fishing village and later as a coal‑exporting port, so maritime and mining heritage still shape local identity even after late 20th‑century decline. In recent years there has been community‑led regeneration, cultural projects and discussions about improving transport links to boost the local economy, while the coastline and heritage remain the town’s most distinctive assets.
